Indian captain Virat Kohli congratulated his women's team counterpart Mithali Raj on becoming the highest run scorer in Women's One Day Internationals, on Wednesday.
Raj had earlier in the day crossed the 6,000-run mark to surpass England's Charlotte Edwards' record of 5992 runs in the format.
According to a report in The Financial Express, Kohli took to the social media to congratulate Raj on her achievement but managed a goof-up in the process.
The 28-year-old Indian captain used a picture of women's team opener Punam Raut in the Facebook post instead of Raj's.
However, fans were quick to point out the error. The photo appears to have been taken off since.
Raut had scored a century against Australia in the World Cup group stage match on Wednesday. Australia won the match by eight wickets forcing India into a virtual knockout match against New Zealand on July 15.
