SBI Mutual Funds enhanced its exposure in banking & financial services, information technology and tobacco sectors, while decreased its exposure in engineering & capital goods, pharmaceuticals and utilities sectors.
Hindustan Zinc, ITC and Shree Renuka Sugars were the top buys, while Hindustan Construction Company, Apollo Tyres and GMR Infrastructure were the top sells.
A study of the SBI Funds Management portfolio for the month of February 2011 showed that in the Banking & Financial Services sector, it purchased HDFC Bank, State Bank of India and ICICI Bank and introduced Bank of Baroda. However, it sold IDFC, Shriram Transport Finance Corp and Kotak Mahindra Bank. The fund exited from IDBI Bank, India Infoline and Rural Electrification Corporation.
In the Information Technology sector, the fund bought Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys Technologies and HCL Technologies. The fund sold Persistent Systems, MindTree and Redington (India). It exited from Mphasis. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds).
It bought ITC in the Tobacco space.
In the Engineering & Capital Goods space, it sold Crompton Greaves, Thermax, BHEL and L&T. The fund bought SKF India, Engineers India and Elecon Engineering Company in the same space.
The fund decreased its exposure to Pharmaceuticals space, where it sold Cipla, Ranbaxy Labs and Cadila Healthcare, while it bought Piramal Healthcare, Divis Labs and FDC. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?).
In Utilities sector, the fund sold Reliance Infrastructure, NTPC and Tata Power.
