HDFC Bank opens branch in Lakshadweep

The country’s largest private sector bank, HDFC Bank, opened a branch in Kavaratti Island in the Union Territory (UT) of Lakshadweep.

The lender said that the branch is aimed at upgrading the banking infrastructure in the UT by offering a wide range of services with focus on personal banking, digital banking.

As of December 31, 2023, HDFC Bank had a total of 8,091 branches and 20,688 ATMs across 3,872 cities compared to 7,183 branches and 19,007 ATMs across 3,552 cities as of December 31, 2022.

The bank has 52 percent of its branches in semi urban and rural areas.
