Off to a mixed start, the earnings season of the first quarter of this fiscal has given some hope for an earnings rebound later this year.
In an interview CNBC-TV18, market experts Prakash Diwan and Deven Choksey analysed the earnings results of major companies announced so far and shared their outlook for results yet to come.
Comparing the results of HUL and ITC, Deven Choksey said that volume growth is not picking up for HUL but ITC looks more convincing as of now and would be a better pick between the two.
He believes that ITC has outperformed hence, it should be given a good grade and HUL had a moderate performance in this quarter.
Agreeing with Choksey, Prakash Diwan said that despite troubling times for ITC -- factory shutdown due to pictorial warning issue -- the company has shown growth in volume.
He thinks that HUL is a little overvalued but would still give it an 'A' rating.
They talked about the performance of banking stocks and the midcap space as well.
