In what may be the first move towards reconciliation, Former Advocate General of Maharashtra Darius Khambata has iniciated efforts to mediate between Ratan Tata and Cyrus Mistry, reports CNBC-TV18 quoting sources. It is learnt that Khambata has met Ratan Tata and Cyrus Mistry separately."None of the parties wanted this this to become a public spat. Investors have been worried and they wanted some kind of mediation between the Tatas and Mistry. Mediation is the only positive way out," says Sourav Majumdar, Editor, Forbes India.Majumdar also adds that Mistry was not only Chairman of Tata Sons, but also holds 18.5 percent in the group. A reconsiliation is going to take time.Khambata has a long association with both Ratan and Cyrus. "For the two parties to resolve dispute, there has to be a give and take process. If Tata does not want to give any advantage to the Pallonji family, it may have to buy its entire stake. But that will be around Rs 90,000 crore in value. Not only would it be too much to pay, it will also attract Sebi's attention," says RS Loona, Dhaval Vussonji Alliance.Loona says its best to find a way out where the Pallonji Group remains a part of management.Watch video for more.
