Bajaj May sales flat; entry-level segment sees traction

Homegrown automaker Bajaj Auto said its May monthly sales stood were down 2 percent to 3.45 lakh, compared to 3.51 lakh year-on-year.

Homegrown automaker Bajaj Auto said its May monthly sales stood were down 2 percent to 3.45 lakh, compared to 3.51 lakh year-on-year.

This was broken down into sales of 1.8 lakh, 38,000, 83,000 and 44,000 for the entry-level segment (Platina + CT), Discover, Pulsar-KTM and three-wheeler platforms, respectively.

Speaking on the numbers, Bajaj’s business development president S Ravi Kumar said the company was witnessing traction in the entry-level segment, an area where it has been focusing on keenly of late.

“Domestic sales from this segment (Platina + CT) have increased from 45,000 a few months ago to 90,000. Accordingly, our market share in the segment has jumped,” he said.
