Impact of cut in MEP of non-basmati rice unclear: KRBL

The Minimum Export Price (MEP) of three non-basmati rice varieties, Sona Masuri, Ponni Samba and Matta was reduced from USD 850 per tonne to USD 600 per tonne by the government on August 14, 2011.

The Minimum Export Price (MEP) of three non-basmati rice varieties, Sona Masuri, Ponni Samba and Matta was reduced from USD 850 per tonne to USD 600 per tonne by the government on August 14, 2011.


In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Anoop Gupta, the joint managing director at KRBL says he still awaits clarity from the government on the impact this move could have on the industry as well as his company.
