'Kamath, a vote for continuity, not about rocking boat'

Big changes have taken place at Infosys after all the hoop-la surrounding the question, who will succeed Narayana Murthy. Well, the suspense is finally over with KV Kamath taking over the mantle at Infosys.

Many players in the IT arena in India say it is a win-win situation but the question doing the rounds is, is there a need for such a structure to be in place? Kris Gopalakrishnan has been elevated to the post of executive co-chairman while SD Shibulal, the current chief operating officer, will take over as the chief executive officer and managing director of Infosys on August 21, 2011.

So how is competition digesting this change of guard?

Knowing Infosys for the last 25-30 years, knowing management, knowing the board, I was expecting a fairly win-win brilliant solution. They have come out with a structure and people which seems to me a very extraordinary solution. I am looking forward to where they are going.

You must keep in mind that KV, the great leader that he is, could also need some advice, some thoughts on the industry, the issues, the history and so forth. Kris gives him that. So, we cannot reduce the value of what Kris will bring to this whole team of chairman and co-chairman.
