Tata Motors on Wednesday said it sold 98,837 units globally in February, down 22 percent year-on-year. The India's largest commercial vehicle maker's global truck and bus wholesales slipped 10 percent from a year ago to 52,175 units, last month. It includes sales by Tata Motors and its subsidiaries -- Tata Daewoo and Tata Hispano Carrocera. Its passenger vehicle sales tumbled 33 percent at 46,662 units in Feb. It must be noted that year ago figures also included Fiat cars sold in India through a sales venture, which has since ended. Overall, Tata Motors' PV sales have declined, especially given the slump in demand for its cars in India. Sales of Tata passenger vehicles plunged 70 percent to 11,177 units. Its global wholesales at luxury Jaguar Land Rover unit rose 10 percent year-on-year at 35,485 units. While Jaguar sales accelerated 68 percent to 7,102 units, Land Rover sales rose just over 1 percent to 28,383 units. The UK-headquartered JLR had said late on Tuesday, its retail sales last month rose just 3 percent year-on-year to 26,855 units, as holidays hurt sales in China, one of its biggest markets. Tata Motors shares were down 1.5 percent at Rs 300.15 on NSE in afternoon trade.
