The telecom companies were under pressure today as the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) asked telecos to comply with its order to compensate subscribers for call dropped beginning January 1.Last week, the top telecom companies had decided to ignore this directive till the Delhi High Court gave its final decision on January 6th. However, despite the reminder to pay compensation, telecom operators remain defiant and are awaiting the court’s final decision on the matter, sources say. CNBC-TV18’s Prerna Baruah, quoting sources, says that process of rationalisation for penalty on call drops is under active consideration. The source also says that the main reason behind call drops was shift of companies focus to data from voice. TRAI implemented the call drop compensation from January 1, 2016 under which telcos are to compensate the consumer Re 1 per call upto 3 dropped calls per day.Watch video for more.
