Global auto giant Ford Motor is contemplating a buyout or partnership with Tata Motors for the passenger vehicles, sources privy to the news told CNBC-TV18. Last month, Ford initiated discussion for the company’s PV business. Ford is keen on expanding its business presence in India and mulling an equity deal with Tata Motors. In September last year, Ford said they are going to pursue the India business expansion very aggressively. Tata Motors' passenger vehicles segment has seen consistent fall in last 4 years. Since FY2013, the company's PV segment has fallen by 40 percent. Tata Motors had bought JLR from Ford in 2008. A Tata Motors spokesperson denied the rumours of a partnership, but reiterated that the company is in regular discussions with different companies for future collaborations. Ford told CNBC-TV18 that: "We don't comment on conjectures and remain committed to building a sustainable, profitable business in India."According to another media report, Tata Motors and Volkswagen could enter a partnership in the Geneva International Show in March.
