Essar Power to start operations at Hazira in 2 months: Sources

After being shut down in 2013 due to high fuel prices, Essar Power’s natural gas based power plant in Hazira, Gujarat, is set to start operations as per company sources.

Souces have told CNBC-TV18 that the 1000 MW plant in Hazira is set to open in the next two months and Essar Power is in talks with Shell, GAIL and Russian LNG for supply of liquefied nitrogen gas (LNG).

Essar Ports is ready to invest around Rs 4,000 crore to set up a floating storage and refgasification unit near Hazira.

When contacted, Essar Power denied the development while Gail, Shell are yet to respond to the CNBC-TV18's queries.More to follow.
