The Supreme Court on Monday heard the plea against CBI director Ranjit Sinha for his alleged meetings with the accused in high-profile cases like 2G, coal scam and others.
Senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan submitted original entry guest diary of the CBI director's residence to the apex court, saying he feared destruction of the same. CBI director told SC that Bhushan must disclose the source of the information.
The Supreme Court observed: "Allegations made in the petition are of a very serious nature. Prima facie, the evidence put on record looks objectionable and Sinha must be prepared for potentially adverse inferences."
The apex court directed Sinha to explain meetings at his residence and asked him to file affidavit by next Monday.
