The Audi Q6 e-tron is generating quite a buzz with its impending debut, and it seems the German automaker has carefully curated an electric SUV that promises to deliver on several fronts. Audi has now confirmed that the Q6 e-tron is all set to debut globally on March 18, 2024. Developed in collaboration with Porsche and built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, this electric SUV will mark the eighth EV in the international market from Audi’s stable.
The design
The Q6 is essentially a Q5-sized electric SUV and in terms of design, sports styling is very similar to the larger Q8 e-tron, albeit a little milder than the aggression seen on the latter. The front sports a new set of split headlamps, the kind that is not common on Audis yet, and the ‘Bulgarian Beard’ grille is closed off as it always is on electric cars. The side profile reveals a rakish roofline for enhanced sportiness and a set of wide haunches can be seen when viewed from the rear.
The interior
Inside the cabin, the Q6 e-tron is poised to deliver a truly futuristic experience. The twin-screen cockpit layout features a striking 14.5-inch infotainment display and an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, providing drivers with a wealth of information at their fingertips. Front passengers, too, receive a personalised 10.9-inch screen integrated into the dashboard for added convenience and entertainment.
But it's not just about technology; Audi has also prioritised practicality and comfort. The interior is crafted using eco-friendly materials and soft-touch surfaces, creating a very premium environment. With 536 litres of boot space, expandable to an impressive 1,529 litres with the rear seats folded, the Q6 e-tron will offer ample storage for your belongings. Additionally, a 64-litre 'frunk' provides extra space for charging cables and small luggage, further enhancing the vehicle's versatility.
The range
At the heart of the Q6 e-tron is its impressive range capability. With a claimed maximum range of up to 600 km on a single charge, Audi aims to alleviate any concerns about range anxiety. Moreover, the SUV will support rapid charging at rates of up to 270 kW, ensuring minimal downtime during charging stops. Now, specific power figures are yet to be disclosed but the Q6 e-tron Sportback is expected to be propelled by a twin-motor setup and a four-wheel-drive powertrain. This could boast a combined output of around 470hp and 800Nm of peak torque.
There is no word as to whether the Q6 e-tron will make it to Indian markets. However, the brand has multiple EVs in its India portfolio including the e-tron and e-tron Sportback, Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback, e-tron GT and the RS e-tron GT. Given the current lineup, there is a high probability we get to see the Q6 launched here in time.
