Monsoon season means moisture, and moisture means trouble that includes rusting taps, water stains, and musty smell that never seems to leave. But the solution isn’t a full renovation, it’s smart swaps. With small upgrades in material and design, you can create a space that’s built for the weather and still looks sharp.
The rains offer an opportunity to rethink your bathroom, says Rajeev Jain, Managing Director of RN Faucets Pvt. Ltd. “Bathrooms are most vulnerable during monsoon. It's the room that sees the most water exposure and often the least ventilation,” he says.
From fluctuating water pressure, to extra humidity, and poorly chosen fittings, it invites rust, mould and discomfort. That’s why picking materials that can resist moisture and still look good is key. “The trick is to blend function with form. The modern day materials offer durability without compromising design,” Jain adds.

Most of us delay upgrades until things break or leak. But monsoon prep is less about fixing problems and more about preventing them. “It’s not about doing more, it’s about doing better,” he says.
Jain shares 5 easy fixes that may help you maintain a clean, stylish bathroom during the monsoon:
- Switch to rust-resistant shower heads: ABS chrome-plated shower heads resist rust, and are also lightweight, sleek and easy to clean. Ideal for humid bathrooms that see heavy daily use.
- Upgrade taps to corrosion-resistant finishes: Opt for brass or SS 304 stainless steel faucets with a chrome finish. They handle water exposure gracefully and add a contemporary edge to any sink.
- Choose PVC dual flush tanks: Wall-mounted PVC tanks are compact, rust-free and water-efficient. “They also handle pressure fluctuations better, which is a common issue during the rains,” says Jain.
- Replace old accessories with durable ones: Don’t ignore towel rods, shelves or soap trays. Switch to SS 304 options with glass or chrome elements for long-lasting style that survives the season.
- Invest in moisture-proof hand showers: ABS hand showers and health faucets now come with anti-tangle hoses and ergonomic designs, ideal for hassle-free use, even in steamy, damp conditions.
