According to a study in the National Institutes of Health, the leaves of guava plant have many health benefits because they contain natural compounds called phytochemicals. These include quercetin, avicularin, apigenin, guaijaverin, kaempferol, hyperin, myricetin, gallic acid, catechin, epicatechin, chlorogenic acid, epigallocatechin gallate, and caffeic acid.

Extracts made from guava leaves have been studied for their effects on health, such as fighting cancer, lowering blood sugar, acting as antioxidants, reducing diarrhoea, fighting microbes, lowering blood fats, and protecting the liver.
