Actress Sai Pallavi, who shot to stardom with her endearing performance in the 2015 Malayalam blockbuster Premam, once talked about her unconventional stance on publicity and fame in an interview with Behindwoods.
Known for her natural acting and grounded persona, Pallavi revealed that she has never believed in hiring a public relations (PR) agency to promote herself—a rarity in an industry where image often plays as big a role as talent.
During the candid conversation, Pallavi shared an anecdote involving a representative from Bollywood who had approached her with a proposal to boost her public visibility. “A guy from Bollywood came and said PR agencies here could boost your visibility and asked, ‘are you interested in that?’ I didn’t understand the concept initially and asked him why this would be necessary,” she recounted.
She recalled responding with characteristic clarity: “Whenever one of my films releases, I give interviews. After that, why would I need it? What’s the necessity of boosting me?”
Her reservations about constant media presence reflect a deeper philosophy about fame and its sustainability. “For me, it felt like the opposite. If people are talking about us all the time, won’t they get bored of us?” she questioned, raising a point that challenges the industry’s ever-churning publicity machinery. “If I don’t understand something, I don’t get into it. If this works for some people, that’s great for them.”
In a time when celebrities frequently feel pressured to maintain constant visibility through social media, media appearances, and carefully manicured image-building, Sai Pallavi's remarks are poignant. By choosing not to use this system, she demonstrates her dedication to authenticity and lets her work do the talking, which is uncommon in modern film.
Despite this, Pallavi’s popularity has only grown over the years, with a dedicated fan base that appreciates both her artistic integrity and her off-screen simplicity. From Telugu blockbusters like Fidaa and Middle Class Abbayi to Tamil hits like Maari 2 and Gargi, she has consistently delivered memorable performances without the typical frills of celebrity promotion.

Her decision to stay away from the PR game is not out of arrogance, but rather a conscious choice rooted in her values. Pallavi continues to prove that in a world obsessed with hype, it’s still possible to forge a successful career through talent, sincerity, and a strong sense of self.
In doing so, she not only sets herself apart from the crowd but also inspires a new generation of actors to reconsider the definition of visibility and success.
On the work front, Sai Pallavi was last seen in Thandel alongside Naga Chaitanya. The actress is currently working on Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana alongside Ranbir Kapoor.
