Bollywood actor Salman Khan, a prominent figure in Bollywood, was once asked about his fondest Navratri memory, which interestingly features none other than his ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
During the trailer launch event for Loveyatri in 2018, a film produced by his production house, Salman was asked to share his favourite Navratri moment. In a nostalgic tone, he mentioned the iconic song “Dholi Taro” from the 1999 film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, where he starred alongside Aishwarya.
The film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is not just a significant piece of cinema but also marked a pivotal moment in Salman and Aishwarya’s relationship.
Released during the height of their romance, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam has become synonymous with their time together, even though their relationship ended in 2001 amid controversy and allegations of domestic issues.
Recalling this memory, Salman expressed a bittersweet sentiment: “My biggest memory of Navratri is Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Dholi Taro."
Adding another layer to this narrative, Aishwarya had also once shared her own reflections on their collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
She revealed that there were discussions about reuniting for projects like Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani. However, these films eventually starred Deepika Padukone due to the fallout from Aishwarya and Salman’s bitter breakup.
Aishwarya recounted, “He didn’t get the Bajirao for me. He wanted me to do Padmaavat, but could not get the Khilji for me, at the casting time. So, that’s how it didn’t happen.”
Her comments highlight the intricate dance of relationships and casting decisions in Bollywood, where past connections can significantly influence future collaborations.

Meanwhile, Salman continued to work with his former partners, including Katrina Kaif, in his film, like Tiger series and Bharat. Initially, Priyanka Chopra was set to co-star in Bharat but had to bow out just ten days before filming, reportedly due to her engagement to Nick Jonas and other commitments.
