Tom Felton, who is known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series, is all set to reprise his iconic role in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The actor took to his official Instagram handle to make the announcement and created a buzz among the fans with an exciting teaser look. Alongside the video, the actor penned in the caption, “Guess who’s back. For tickets, visit HarryPotterBroadway.com.”
The video opens with Felton sporting a Slytherin ring, giving a touch to his hair and outfit. He then asks, “Scared Potter.”
Meanwhile, Tom Felton reflected on reprising his iconic role in a recent episode of Today. The actor shared, “We start 19 years later. Now we’re no longer children. We actually are the parents. So as much as it is reprising an old role for me, it’s very much treading into new, unfamiliar territory. I know him quite well as a kid. I don’t know him that well as an adult.”
The actor elaborated, “It’s very, very easy to get emotional,” adding, “When they put my blond wig on for the theatre production, I just immediately cried. It was just sort of like a blast from the past.”
The Broadway performance is slated to kick off on November 11 for a limited 19-week engagement. Felton will play Draco as an adult. He became the first actor from the original cast of the film series to join the stage play.
The Cursed Child is set 19 years after the events of JK Rowling's series and revolves around the children of Draco, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger (now adults) attending Hogwarts. The play opened on Broadway in 2018 and has been running successfully with a packed theatre.
