Saiyaara is riding high on the success, and Yash Raj Films (YRF) has decided to change its digital distribution strategy. Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Akshaye Widhani, the much-anticipated romantic drama featuring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda will be the first YRF theatrical film to release on Netflix.
The latest collaboration has marked a big partnership between two entertainment leaders. Meanwhile, Saiyaara’s OTT release date is yet to be officially announced, but there are speculations that the film will premiere in Diwali on Netflix.
Earlier reports suggested an OTT release in the second week of September, but the film’s rising box office numbers likely prompted the makers to postpone its digital debut. With such strong ticket sales, YRF wants to extend its theatrical run to maximise profits before bringing Saiyaara to streaming.
Previously, YRF’s theatrical releases were exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video. With Saiyaara, the production company seems to be expanding its presence in the OTT space.
Although YRF has worked with Netflix on original web series like The Romantics, The Railway Men, Maharaj, Vijay 69, and the upcoming Mandala Murders, this is the first time a full YRF film will debut on the platform. The film’s end credits mention Netflix, hinting at the official partnership.
Currently, Saiyaara is enjoying a successful run in theatres and is reportedly aiming for the Rs 300 crore mark in its third week.
Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara revolves around the passionate lovers and aspiring singers, Krish Kapur and Vaani, played by Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, as they navigate a rollercoaster romance, facing euphoric highs and crushing lows while desperately clinging to their tumultuous bond.
