A suspect has been detained in Madhya Pradesh, just days after Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked and stabbed multiple times inside his Mumbai home. However, the police have not confirmed whether the detained individual is the same person who broke into the actor's Bandra residence and launched the assault early Thursday morning.
The initial suspect was taken into custody in Madhya Pradesh after Mumbai Police, working alongside local authorities, tracked him down and detained him for interrogation.
Mumbai Police had also gathered CCTV footage on Friday from a mobile shop in Dadar, where the alleged suspect had visited after the attack. According to Hasan, an employee at the shop named ‘Iqra,’ the man had purchased a pair of earphones for Rs 50.
Neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, who performed surgery on Saif Ali Khan, provided an update on his recovery on Friday, stating that the actor was progressing exceptionally well as expected. "We are closely monitoring his condition, and he is responding positively. Based on his recovery, we have recommended bed rest, and if he remains comfortable, we anticipate discharging him within the next two to three days," Dr. Dange said.
Meanwhile, in her statement to the police, Saif's wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, revealed that the intruder became aggressive when confronted but did not steal any valuables, including jewellery that was left in plain sight, according to an official.
A senior police officer, addressing concerns about the attack, described it as a "stray incident." "Our preliminary investigation suggests that the intruder was not affiliated with any gang. It is likely he did not even realize whose residence he had entered," the official stated.
The shocking attack took place early Thursday morning inside Saif Ali Khan’s 12th-floor apartment at ‘Satguru Sharan,’ a luxury residential building in Mumbai’s upscale Bandra West locality. The intruder stabbed the actor multiple times before fleeing the scene.
