Sachin–Jigar have been shaping the sound of modern Bollywood for over a decade now — with chart-toppers that range from peppy dance numbers to soul-stirring ballads.
But behind their signature sound lies a quiet reverence for someone they’ve long considered a guiding light: A.R. Rahman.
In a heartfelt moment during a recent interview, the composer duo described their connection to Rahman with a beautiful metaphor: “Our relationship with Rahman sir has been like Ekalavya and Dronacharya,” said Jigar.
“We’ve never been his assistants, never worked closely with him — just a couple of songs here and there. But what we’ve learnt from watching him, from listening to his music… it’s been priceless.”
It’s not just about the music, though. For Sachin and Jigar, Rahman’s presence in the industry has been quietly revolutionary.
“He changed everything — not just how music sounds, but how musicians live and work,” Sachin added. “He brought computers into our homes, fought for artist rights, made technology accessible. He gave us the tools to be independent — and that’s a rare gift.”
There’s an unmistakable warmth in how they speak about him — not as a distant icon, but as someone whose influence runs deep in their day-to-day creative process. Even without formal training under him, Rahman’s work ethic, innovation, and humility have left an indelible mark on them.
“His aura is something else,” they said. “Just being around it, even briefly, feels like you’re in the presence of something bigger than music.”
In a world where creative paths are often competitive and guarded, it’s refreshing to see artists like Sachin–Jigar so openly acknowledge their inspirations — especially one who has meant so much from a distance.
