Rambai Raju Weds Rambai is based on real events that happened roughly twenty years ago. The story takes place in a village close to Yellendu, Telangana, which was then part of Andhra Pradesh. Story Raju (Akhil Uddemari) hails from a family that doesn't have a lot of money. Shivaji Raja, his father, used to be in a band, but he departed the profession years ago.

Raju is proud to carry on that legacy, even if the work doesn't pay much and others don't appreciate him for it. Raju's father continues encouraging him to travel to Hyderabad and acquire a steady job, but his heart is in his hometown and with Rambai. Rambai (Tejaswi Rao) is a college student whose family is a little better off than most.
