After doing the bilingual movie Kuberaa, Dhanush is going back to Tamil cinema with his upcoming movie, Idli Kadai. The family drama that everyone has been waiting for will be out in theaters all over the world on October 1, 2025. Before the movie comes out, trends in advance bookings have started to show what people want.
Advance Booking Report
Early box office figures say that by 10 AM today, Idli Kadai had sold more than 90,000 tickets and made Rs 1.43 crore gross in advance bookings (not counting blocked seats). The stats reflect a strong start, but the movie will mostly rely on good word-of-mouth to get going after it comes out. People who work in the industry think the movie could do well because there isn't much competition at the box office, as long as the subject is interesting to people.
Results by Region
It shouldn't be a surprise that Tamil Nadu is in the lead, making up about 94% of all pre-sales. Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra are also showing early signs of success, but on a smaller scale.
Comparing Dhanush's Captain Miller
The movie now has to do as well as or better than Dhanush's last smash, Captain Miller. The movie made Rs 3.90 crore in advance sales on the first day, when it sold 2.37 lakh tickets. Idli Kadai needs to expand by an amazing 172% during the next day in order to beat that record. Dhanush's Raayan, which garnered gross pre-sales of Rs 6.20 crore, is still a long way off from breaking records like these.

About the Movie
Dhanush's fourth movie is Idli Kadai. He has already directed Pa Paandi (2017), Raayan (2024), and Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (2025). Along with Dhanush and Nithya Menen, the cast includes Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Sathyaraj, R. Parthiban, P. Samuthirakani, and Rajkiran.
Idli Kadai is likely to do well this holiday season because it focuses on family feelings and Dhanush's great storytelling.
