Halsey has been feeding us with insane Y2K inspired promo for her upcoming single ‘Lucky’ off of her fifth album. She has been teasing the song and Britney Spears also has a song titled ‘Lucky.’ Fans quickly jumped to speculation whether the 2000s promo is inspired by Britney. They questioned whether Halsey will collaborate with Spears or if she’ll sample a song. It seems like the latter is true, as confirmed by Halsey.

The singer songwriter posted a video on her social media account of herself posing and grooving to Halsey’s upcoming song. In the song, Halsey sings, “But I’m so lucky, I’m a star, but I cry, cry, cry in the lonely heart thinking, if there’s nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night.”

Halsey also wrote a sweet caption to honour Britney Spears, “When I was 5, it always felt like Britney was singing directly to me. 24 years later, these words hit different. love you forever.”
