The Gujarat High Court on Thursday (June 13) ordered streaming platform Netflix to stop the release of their movie 'Maharaj' , which marks the Bollywood debut of Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan.

The order is based on objections raised by members of a religious sect called Pushtimarg. The film was to be released on Friday (June 14).

Many hashtags like 'Boycott Netflix' and 'Ban Maharaj Film' were trending on social media on Thursday (June 14) as some users called for a ban on 'Maharaj', claiming that the upcoming period drama hurts religious sentiments.

The film, which was set for its premiere on Netflix on Friday, marks the debut of Bollywood star Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan. Hashtag "AamirKhan" was also trending on X.
