With a career spanning Bollywood as well as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films, Jyotika has long been one of Indian cinema's most versatile talents. Despite experiencing significant success in South India, the actress recently disclosed the reasons behind her nearly three-decade decline in Hindi cinema.
Jyotika revealed in an old interview with News18 that she didn't get any offers for Hindi movies for 27 years—not because she rejected them, but rather due to a common misunderstanding. Many believed she had shifted to South cinema and lost interest in Bollywood after she married actor Suriya and moved to Chennai.
"Bollywood assumed I was a South Indian and that I no longer wanted to do Hindi films," she said. "I just wasn't given any scripts for all these years, so it's not like I abstained."
The actress, who made her Bollywood comeback with Shaitaan and Srikanth, said it was nerve-racking and incredibly nostalgic to be back on Hindi sets after a long absence.
Jyotika laughed as she said, "I was really nervous on the first two days of shooting, and I did a lot of bad acting on the first day! I couldn't believe I was back in Bollywood at last.

With her roles in Shaitaan, Srikanth, and the upcoming Dabba Cartel, Jyotika has been wowing audiences ever since she returned. In addition to acting, she has also taken on the role of producer, supporting a number of her husband Suriya's projects, such as Retro, which was helmed by Karthik Subbaraj.
Jyotika is demonstrating that her talent and charm are ageless, and she is here to stay, despite the lengthy break.
