In a significant development that has drawn widespread attention within the film fraternity, popular choreographer Shaik Jani Basha, professionally known as Jani Master, has been embroiled in a sexual harassment case. The allegations, made by a female colleague, have led to the filing of a zero First Information Report (FIR), with the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) stepping in to address the complaint through its sexual harassment redressal panel.
The Allegations and FIR
Jani Master, a renowned name in the Indian film industry, is facing grave allegations of sexually abusing a female colleague. As per reports, the woman has accused the choreographer of multiple incidents of sexual harassment, some of which allegedly occurred during outdoor shoots. The situation escalated when, in addition to the sexual harassment, the woman also claimed to have been attacked at her home. These allegations have prompted the police to register a zero FIR, transferring the case to the Narsingi police station where the complainant resides.
The term "zero FIR" is used when an FIR is filed at any police station, irrespective of the area of jurisdiction. In such cases, the FIR is later transferred to the concerned police station. This legal provision allows victims to register complaints without having to worry about geographical boundaries. In Jani Master’s case, the Raidurgam police initiated the FIR and later transferred it to Narsingi, a move that signifies the seriousness of the complaint.
