Many social media users were amused by the moment, with some joking that she had confused Independence Day with Janmashtami, as the slogan is more commonly heard on national occasions. The clip rapidly circulated, leading to memes and comments poking fun at the actress.

However, Janhvi has now clarified the context behind the viral footage. Taking to Instagram Stories, she shared the complete video, which shows BJP MLA Ram Kadam prompting the crowd with “Bolo Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, to which she then responded before breaking the pot. Addressing the trolls, Janhvi wrote:

“Just for context full video lol. Unke bolne ke baad nahi bolti toh problem, aur bolo toh bhi video ko kaat ke meme material. (laughing emoji) Waise sirf Janmashtami ke din nahi, roz bolungi Bharat mata ki jaiiiii.” [If I didn’t say it after they did, that would’ve been a problem. And if I do say it, the video gets edited and turned into meme material. By the way, not just on Janmashtami — I’ll say Bharat Mata Ki Jai every single day].
