Filmmaker Jason Bateman and Hollywood star Tom Holland are reportedly in talks to team up for the upcoming film adaptation of The Partner for Universal Pictures.
According to Deadline, Jason, who is known for The Ozark, is also reported to executive produce the film under his production banner, Aggregate Films, alongside his partner Michael Costigan.
Spider-Man fame actor Tom Holland will play the role of Patrick Lanigan, a young partner in a white shoe Biloxi law firm who fakes his own death in a burning car. In the film, he leaves behind a secret, a wife, and a newborn daughter. The twist is that he staged his death in order to use the money he stole from a client of his corrupt law firm as a template for a new life.
He then finds love and happiness in South America. The client, who put a lot of effort into defrauding the government, is determined to find the lawyer he doesn't think is dead after discovering that the money has disappeared from his offshore accounts. As a result, the lawyer must surrender to the FBI and confront the wife, child, and life he left behind.
However, Tom will also produce the film for Billy 17 alongside Harry Holland and Will South.
The well-known book The Partner was written by John Grisham and released in 1997. Fans of the legal thriller genre continue to enjoy it, as it became the best-selling book when it was first released.
Meanwhile, Tom Holland is also gearing up for his another thriller, The Odyssey (2026), directed by Christopher Nolan. The film will also star Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Elliot Page, Zendaya, and Anne Hathaway, among others, in the lead.
Tom will also be seen in Marvel’s next Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
