The trilogy, which was adapted from Mario Puzo's best-selling book, is considered a classic of world cinema. After introducing the formidable Italian-American mafia family headed by Don Vito Corleone, played by Marlon Brando, it follows the development of his youngest son, Michael, portrayed by Al Pacino, from a reluctant outsider to a vicious mafia boss.
