With his upcoming movie Abir Gulaal, in which he co-stars with Vaani Kapoor, Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is set to make a comeback to Bollywood. However, given the recent tragic terror attack in Pahalgam and the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, reports indicate that the film may not be released in India. Now there are reports about how much he was paid for the film.
From the very beginning, Abir Gulaal faced opposition from certain groups, and the resistance has only grown stronger in the wake of the Pahalgam incident.
Fawad, who normally receives between Rs 15 and 20 lakh for each television show in Pakistan and about Rs 2 crore for each movie, was paid a lot more for this Bollywood project, if reports are to be believed.
According to a Siasat report, the actor's remuneration for his work in Abir Gulaal ranged from Rs 5 to Rs 10 crore. It is crucial to remember that these numbers have not been formally confirmed.
Abir Gulaal might not be released in India, though, according to recent reports. The movie, which also features Vaani Kapoor in the lead role, will not be released in Indian theatres, according to a source close to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Fawad Khan and recently condemned the Pahalgam attack and expressed his sympathies for the victims and their families. He took to his Instagram Story and wrote, “Deeply saddened to hear the news of the heinous attack in Pahalgam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrifying incident and we pray for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time."
Vaani Kapoor also expressed her sadness and penned on social media, “Have been numb, at a loss of words since the time I have seen the attack on innocent people in Pahalgam. Gutted. Devastated. My prayers are with the families."
Abir Gulaal marks Fawad Khan’s Bollywood comeback after nine years. He last appeared in karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). But after the Uri attack in 2016, Pakistani artists were banned from working in India. He has also worked in other Bollywood films including Khoobsurat (2014) and Kapoor & Sons (2016).
