The sixth installment of the much loved Ice Age series, has been officially titled Ice Age: Boiling Point, as per Disney's official announcement post.
Disney revealed on Instagram that the animated adventure film will hit theatres on February 5, 2027, following a lot of anticipation.
Along with the announcement teaser video of the upcoming instalment, the caption read, "Ice Age: Boiling Point was just announced at Destination @disneyd23! Coming to theaters on February 5, 2027, the newest adventure takes the herd to visit never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World! #DestinationD23."
Disney announced that the movie will be released in theatres on February 5, 2027, at the Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney event in Orlando on Saturday.
An official description released by Variety states that Boiling Point will be a "dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure" that offers viewers a fresh look at the prehistoric saga by bringing Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat, and the rest of the herd into previously unexplored areas of the Lost World.
Fans will be thrilled to learn that the franchise's adored voice actors, Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg, will all be making a comeback.
Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and fans, the last installment in the series, Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), made an astounding $408.5 million at the worldwide box office. However, the series has continued to be a popular cultural favourite since the 2002 release of the first movie, which introduced viewers to Manny, Sid, Diego, and the always mischievous Scrat.
Since then, the franchise has developed into one of the most popular animated series ever. It has produced four mainline sequels, including Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012), and Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), as well as a spin-off movie and a set of shorts available on Disney+.
