Nayanthara’s recent open letter has ignited a storm of controversy after she criticised fellow actor Dhanush for filing a Rs 10 crore lawsuit against her upcoming Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. The central point of contention is a brief, three-second behind-the-scenes clip from the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which appears in the trailer for Nayanthara's documentary. This disagreement has taken social media by storm. Now, Dhanush’s lawyer has issued a statement addressing the issue.

The statement from Dhanush's legal representative asserted, "My client is the producer of the film and they know where they have spent each penny for the production of the film. Your client has stated that my client has not commissioned any person to shoot the behind-the-scenes footage and the said statement is baseless. Your client is put to strict proof of the same."

Dhanush’s lawyer also emphasised that the opposing party’s submission was ambiguous, particularly regarding the ownership of the BTS footage. According to the lawyer, the footage belongs to Dhanush as the producer, not to the individual who recorded it.

The legal team has advised Nayanthara and her team to remove the allegedly infringing content from the documentary. Failure to comply within 24 hours would compel Dhanush to initiate legal proceedings, seeking damages of Rs 10 crore against both Nayanthara and Netflix India.

The statement concluded with a warning, "Advise your client to take down the content infringing my client's copyright over the film 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' by using the same in your client's documentary 'Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale' within 24 hours, failing which my client will be forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including but not limited to seeking damages to a sum of Rs 10 crores against your client and Netflix India."
