Veteran Tamil actor Delhi Ganesh has passed away at the age of 80 after battling health complications related to old age.
According to a report by Tamil Samayam, Delhi Ganesh passed away at 11:30 PM last night in Chennai. His last rites are scheduled to take place today, November 10.
About Delhi Ganesh
Born on August 1, 1944, Delhi Ganesh made his cinematic debut in 1976 with the iconic director K. Balachander's film Pattina Pravesam.
Over the years, Delhi Ganesh appeared in over 400 films across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema.
Before embarking on his acting career, Delhi Ganesh served in the Indian Air Force for a decade, from 1964 to 1974.
Delhi Ganesh is widely recognized for his memorable roles in films such as Nayakan (1987) and Michael Madhana Kamarajan (1990).
He was awarded the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize for his performance in 'Pasi' (1979). Additionally, he received several state honors, including the Kalaimamani award in 1994, presented by then-Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
Some of his most notable films include 'Sindhu Bhairavi' (1985), 'Michael Madana Kama Rajan' (1990), 'Aahaa..!' (1997), and 'Thenali' (2000).
In addition to his work in films, Delhi Ganesh also appeared in TV serials and short films.
Delhi Ganesh also made a cameo in the short film 'What if Batman was from Chennai', where he portrayed a version of Alfred Pennyworth. In 2016, he had a brief but impactful role as Sriman in 'Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru', directed by Karthick Naren, where he played the father who reports his missing son, only to later discover that his son is dead. In 2015, he ventured into film production with 'Ennul Aayiram' (2016), which featured his son Maha in the lead role.
