After months of speculation and swirling rumours, Cocktail 2 has finally been confirmed and is all set to go on floors this August with a brand-new lead trio.
Director Homi Adajania is returning to helm the much-awaited romantic drama. According to industry sources, Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor, and Rashmika Mandanna will be the main stars this time. Thirteen years have passed since the first cult favourite was released when the sequel was released.
On Friday, July 4, celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania gave fans a preview of Cocktail 2's script through an Instagram Story, confirming the news. The post went viral very fast, essentially confirming the development of the movie. When Kriti Sanon was spotted outside the Maddock Films office in Mumbai a few hours later, the excitement grew even more.
While the official cast announcement and plot details are still under wraps, early reports suggest that the film will be written by Luv Ranjan and backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the banner behind the original Cocktail. The makers are reportedly aiming for a release in the second half of 2026.
The lead actors are occupied with a number of ongoing projects in the meantime. Recently, Kriti Sanon and Dhanush completed filming Tere Ishk Mein, which was directed by Aanand L. Rai. Both Tamil and Hindi versions of the movie are scheduled for release on November 28.
Arjun Ustara, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and starring Triptii Dimri and Randeep Hooda, is presently being filmed by Shahid Kapoor. According to reports, the gritty action-drama project began filming earlier this year.
Rashmika Mandanna, on the other hand, has a packed slate with multiple releases this year. Her most recent outing was Kuberaa, and she recently announced an action thriller titled Mysaa, adding to the anticipation around her career moves.
Since the two were last seen together in the 2024 blockbuster Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, fans of Kriti and Shahid will be especially thrilled. Many people enjoyed their chemistry in the science fiction romance, and their reunion in Cocktail 2 is already making fans excited to see them together on screen once more.
