A case has been filed against choreographer Remo D'Souza and his wife Lizelle D'Souza in Maharashtra, accused of allegedly defrauding a dance troupe of Rs 11.96 crore.
According to PTI, the police reported on Saturday that the case has also been registered against five other individuals in Thane district. The case was lodged based on a complaint from a 26-year-old dancer.
According to the FIR, the complainant and his dance troupe were reportedly defrauded between 2018 and July 2024.
It was registered at the Mira Road police station on October 16 against Remo D'Souza, Lizelle D'Souza, and five others, under sections 465 (forgery), 420 (cheating), and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, according to an official.
As per the complaint, the troupe participated in a television show and emerged as winners, but the accused allegedly misrepresented themselves as the group's representatives and claimed the prize money of ₹11.96 crore.
The other individuals implicated in the case include Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav, Frame Production Company, Vinod Raut, a police officer, and Ramesh Gupta. An investigation is currently ongoing, as stated by an official.

In addition to his work as a choreographer, Remo D'Souza has served as a judge on numerous dance reality shows since 2009. His judging credits include popular programs such as Dance India Dance, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Dance Ke Superstars, Dance Plus, Dance Champions, India's Best Dancer, DID Little Masters, and DID Super Moms, among others.
