Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has taken the legal route against her husband, Austrian businessman Peter Haag, filing a domestic violence case and seeking Rs 50 crore as compensation for loss of earnings.

The petition, filed in a Mumbai court on November 21, has led to a formal notice being issued to Haag. Celina Jaitly and Peter Haag married in 2010 and share three children: Winston, Viraaj and Arthur.

In her petition, the 47-year-old actor describes Haag, 48, as a “narcissist” and a “self-absorbed individual” who shows “no empathy” towards her or their children. She claims she endured emotional, physical, sexual and verbal abuse throughout the marriage, forcing her to flee their home in Austria and return to India. Represented by the legal team at Karanjawala & Co., she has sought Rs 10 lakh per month in maintenance and requested that the court restrain Haag from entering her Mumbai residence. She is also asking for custody of their children, who currently live with Haag in Austria.

According to the plea, Celina Jaitly says Peter Haag “prohibited” her from working after the birth of their children, limiting her professional opportunities and stripping her of financial independence. She added that she was only allowed to take on “small projects with the permission” of Haag. The petition also notes that Haag filed for divorce in an Austrian court in August this year.
