As the release dates for cherished members V and Jimin draw near, BTS fans' excitement is reaching a fever pitch. The ARMY is buzzing with anticipation as the maknae line duo prepares to return to civilian life on 10 June and June 11, respectively.
Fans have already started making sincere plans to greet the idols' return with open arms, in typical BTS ARMY fashion.
On December 11, 2023, V and group leader RM joined the South Korean military, and the next day, Jimin and bandmate Jungkook joined. Now, with only two weeks remaining, fans have begun to use both online and in-person platforms to express their feelings in lovely and imaginative ways.
From adorning military sites with massive banners to putting up cheerful posters and even planning the installation of inflatable balloon messages, ARMY’s dedication is on full display. One large banner, spotted near V’s base in Chuncheon, simply read, “Welcome Back V,” and was accompanied by messages like, “Taehyung deserves to receive so much love.” Another fan wrote, “V made them proud by working hard and thriving while fulfilling his duty to his country.”
Jimin, currently stationed at the 5th Division Recruit Training Center in Yeoncheon, is receiving just as much affection.
Supporters placed banners near his unit for the “Global IT boy,” hoping he might catch a glimpse of their warm gestures.
Fans also took to X to praise the community’s collective effort, with one writing that the posters were “beautiful.” Five towering inflatable balloons are also set to be installed—each carrying long banners nearly seven metres in length and 0.9 metres tall.
For ARMY, these actions are a way to honour their heroes' personal sacrifices as well as to show their fandom. Even more fan-led tributes are anticipated as SUGA is scheduled to be released on June 21.
The BTS ARMY's unwavering love and passion serve as a reminder to the world why this fandom is unique as V and Jimin get ready to return.
