Veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, known for his patriotic films, passed away at the age of 87 in Mumbai. He had been battling age-related health issues. Fondly called ‘Bharat Kumar’, he earned immense love and respect for his contributions to Indian cinema, especially through films like Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, Shor, and Kranti. As the news of his passing spread, several celebrities from the film industry paid their tributes. Among them, Ajay Devgn shared one of the most heartfelt and personal messages. He thanked Manoj Kumar for giving his father, Veeru Devgan, his first break in the film industry. Ajay explained how his father got his first big opportunity as an action director in Manoj Kumar’s film Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. Their bond continued through to Kranti, which turned out to be one of the most iconic patriotic films in Indian cinema. Ajay added, “From there, their collaboration continued all the way to Kranti, creating moments that are now part of Indian cinema’s golden history.”

Ajay’s tribute went beyond professional acknowledgment. He said, “As Indian cinema bids farewell to its Bharat Kumar—a storyteller, a patriot, and a legend—I also wish to say thank you for shaping my father’s journey and for inspiring countless storytellers like me. Your legacy, Manoj ji, is eternal.”
