Taking a swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said on April 15 that the ruling party is seeking over 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to change the Constitution of India and take away the rights of the people.
“Many BJP leaders have been making statements that if they return to power, the country’s Constitution will be changed. On the other hand, Prime Minister Modi speaks highly of the Constitution but never stops his party members. When the government is formed, the BJP makes decisions that go against the public,” said Priyanka.

The Congress leader, who was canvassing in Rajasthan, alleged that the ruling party was never concerned about people’s welfare and accused it of slashing prices of LPG cylinders only during elections to gain votes.
“If the party can reduce the price of cooking gas to Rs 400 during the polls, why did it force people to purchase it at Rs 1200 in previous years? This decision itself describes the intention of the BJP government,” said Priyanka Gandhi.
She said that prices of essential commodities are rising daily, affecting every section of society, and there is no control over the unemployment rate, but top industrialists of the country are reaping all the benefits.
“Farmers have been deprived of compensation when they faced losses in produce. This government forced farmers to protest for months, denied them electricity and water, and was adamant about withdrawing three farm laws,” Priyanka said.
She cited an incident in Amethi where her father, Rajiv Gandhi, was scolded by a woman for not getting a road constructed.
“The woman told my father, ‘How did you come to this village? Six months ago, I had requested to get our road constructed, which you have not, and we will not vote for you.’ My father had a conversation with her and made her understand the process, after which the woman was pacified,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi claimed that her father, being a Prime Minister, was not angry and stated that it is people’s right to hold politicians accountable.
“Now we have different politics in the country, and the BJP is least bothered about people’s struggles. Even no one tells Prime Minister Modi about the ground situation. The BJP is looting money to run its affairs and avoiding public sentiment,” she added.
