Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday cited Punjabi singer Siddhu Moosewala’s 295 song as a reply to the number of seats the INDIA alliance would win in the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing reporters in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi asked, "Sidhu Moose Wala ka song suna hai aapne?" in reply to a query about the anticipated seat count for the INDIA alliance in the Lok Sabha elections. Referring to "295 seats," he said (have you heard Sidhu Moose Wala's song) about "295".
The Congress leader commented on the exit polls, saying, "It is not exit poll, it is Modi media poll. It is his fantasy poll."
Congress met today with the party's Lok Sabha candidates to review the plan for June 4 counting day.
After the meeting, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said, "We have discussed with our PCC presidents, CMs, in-charges and candidates, they are all very confident. This exit poll is a bogus poll for the government. INDIA alliance will get 295 seats and certainly form the government."
Significantly, the delegation from the INDIA group is scheduled to meet with the Election Commission today at 4:30 p.m. at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh called the Exit Poll estimates a "psychological game" and dismissed them earlier today.
"The outgoing PM, the person who will have to leave for sure on June 4 has conspired all these things and has managed the exit polls. There will be a huge difference in exit polls and results of June 4. INDIA alliance had a meeting yesterday, we did detailed discussions on numbers, it's impossible that INDIA alliance will get anything below 295," said Congress Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set for a third consecutive term in power as the BJP-led NDA will surpass its 2019 tally but fall short of its ambitious 400-paar target, according to the News18 mega exit poll.
The News18 exit poll has predicted 355-370 seats for NDA, higher than its 2019 tally of 353. For BJP alone, it has predicted 303-315 seats.
