Lok Sabha Election 2024: Congress releases manifesto, promises work, wealth and welfare

He said the Congress party had already said institutes will be diminished, it has happened. The party had also made it clear that freedom will be restricted and it has happened, said Chidambram.

To reverse the damage that has happened in ten years, Congress has taken bold steps and manifesto overall theme of three powerful words – work, wealth and welfare, he added.

The party has promised to give legal gaurantee to MSP announced by government every year as recommended by the Swaminathan Commission and will fill nearly 30 lakh vacancies in sanctioned posts at various levels in the central government.

One of the major promises the party has made is revoking the Agnipath Scheme and direct the Armed forces to resume the normal recruitment to achieve full sanctioned strength.

Party president Mallikarjun Kharge said the party will ensure there social,  economic and constitutional justice in the society and ensure caste-census exercise is carried.

The party has had consultations with experts from various fields to make sure people's lives are full of opportunities and country's economy gets a boost.

“The BJP spends its time in criticizing us for the ten years’ government under Manmohan Singh’s leadership, but people of this country are aware of the historic decisions and implementing laws be it Food Security Bill, MGNREGA, RTI and others,” said Kharge

Kharge said the party has history of delivering what it has promised to people and it is not scared of autocratic Narendra Modi.

“The government has been imposing tax penalty on us to cripple party from contesting polls, but we are committed to move forward in any scenario,” he added .
