Karnataka will go to polls in two phases on April 26 and May 7 and the results will be declared on June 4, the Election Commission announced at a media briefing on March 16.

In 2019 also, the Lok Sabha elections were held in Karnataka in two phases on April 18 and April 23.
Karnataka, a key battleground state, is set to witness a high decibel clash between Congress and BJP.
The southern state holds significance for both BJP and Congress and is one of the few states in the south where the two national parties dominate the political landscape over regional outfits.

In 2019, the saffron party won 25 out of the 28 seats in the state. The Congress and JD(S), who fought the polls together, managed to win just one The results were a big boost for BJP since the party had lost the state to Congress-JD(S) alliance in the 2018 assembly polls.
It later came to power in Karnataka after the collapse of the Congress-JD(S) government but again lost the 2023 elections in May.
