Schools closed in Jammu until August 30 due to heavy rain and flooding

The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced that schools in the Jammu region will remain closed until August 30 in view of heavy rainfall and ongoing flooding. The decision has been taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and school staff amid adverse weather conditions.

Schools in the region have already been shut since August 25 as rainfall caused waterlogging and disrupted normal activities. The Director of School Education, Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, has issued the official order, instructing school heads to explore the possibility of online classes for students of classes 9 to 12 during the closure period.

Additionally, the Chief Education Officers and school authorities have been directed to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when planning to reopen schools. This includes ensuring complete sanitation, safety inspections, and necessary preparations before students return to physical classrooms.

The government has emphasized that student safety is the top priority and all institutions must take the necessary precautions to minimize risks once normal school activities resume. Parents and guardians are advised to stay updated with official announcements regarding school schedules and online learning arrangements.
