Around 60 percent of students in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar, are yet to secure jobs in the ongoing placement season 2023-24, according to right to information (RTI) data shared with Moneycontrol.
The data, shared by Dheeraj Singh, the founder of Global IIT Alumni Support Group, revealed that 398 students sat for the current placement process. However, 117 are placed so far, while 46 received pre-placement offers (PPOs).
As of May 7, the average salary offered stands at Rs 18.20 lakh per annum (LPA), while the median salary is Rs 14.43 lakh, similar to the last placement season.

In the 2022-23 placement season, 29 percent (75) of students did not get jobs through campus placement. This number was 25 percent (59) in the 2021-22 placement season.
The IIT Gandhinagar was founded in 2008 and is located in Palaj in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on the banks of the river Sabarmati.
IIT (ISM)-Dhanbad, IIT Hyderabad, IIT BHU, IIT Indore, IIT Jammu, and IIT Palakkad are also facing challenges in managing to get job offers for 30-60 percent of their students in the ongoing placement season.
