In response to the ongoing heatwave gripping the Kashmir Valley, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Thursday announced revised school timings to safeguard the health and well-being of students and staff.

As per the official directive, all government and recognized private schools within the municipal limits of Srinagar city will now operate from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. For schools located outside the municipal limits, the new timings have been set from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The revised schedule will come into effect from May 26 and will remain in force until further notice. The DSEK has directed strict compliance from all institutions.

Currently, schools in Srinagar’s municipal areas begin at 9:00 am, while those beyond the city limits start at 9:30 am. The adjustment comes as the region records unusually high temperatures for this time of year.
