The CBSE Class 12 Biology exam for the 2025 academic year has now concluded. The exam was conducted from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, marking the completion of an important subject for students appearing in the board exams. As the exam has just ended, students and teachers will soon share their reactions and insights on the difficulty level, question pattern, and overall paper analysis.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 12 Biology exam in a single shift. As per the CBSE guidelines, students were required to carry their admit cards and school ID to the examination centre for a smooth and hassle-free experience.
CBSE Class 12 Biology Exam Analysis and Feedback
Now that the CBSE Class 12 Biology Exam 2025 is over, subject experts and educators are reviewing the question paper. The exam was structured effectively to assess both conceptual understanding and analytical skills. Students were tested on various topics, with a mix of direct, theory-based questions and those requiring deeper application.
Students' Reaction
Many students expressed relief after completing the exam. While some found the diagram-based questions challenging, others mentioned that the MCQs and theory-based questions were straightforward. Time management was a key factor, and students who practised previous years' papers found the paper manageable.
Ananya Sharma, a student from Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, said, "The Biology exam was easy. Many questions were from the internal exams we had earlier taken at the school, so we were prepared to tackle them. With time management, I was able to complete the exam on time and also had a few spare minutes to review."
Teachers' Feedback
Teachers’ noted that the exam was well-balanced across all sections, with a good mix of theory and case-based questions. The case-based and assertion-reasoning questions required deep conceptual clarity, making the exam slightly tricky for students who focused only on memorisation. However, all questions were syllabus-based and expected, ensuring that well-prepared students could attempt them with confidence.
Vishakha Pathak, a teacher from Shiv Nadar School, Noida, said, "The Grade 12 CBSE Biology question paper was well-structured, covering the syllabus comprehensively while maintaining a balanced mix of conceptual and application-based questions. With a moderate to easy difficulty level and a fair mark distribution, the exam provided students with an opportunity to effectively demonstrate their knowledge. All questions adhered to the prescribed CBSE syllabus, and students walked out of the exam hall feeling confident and satisfied with their performance."
Swati Trivedi, PGT Biology, from Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad, said, "The Class XII CBSE Biology exam was of difficulty level that’s moderate to high. All questions were from NCERT and no question was out of syllabus. The application based questions were also of moderate difficulty level. The MCQs were easy and the assertion/reason segment was moderate. Question number 24 in Section C was slightly tricky. The case-study based questions in Section D shouldn’t have posed challenge to students who were well prepared. All in all, the exam paper was not lengthy and the children could complete it on time."
CBSE 12th Biology Exam Pattern
The Biology paper consisted of a total of 33 questions across different formats:
- 16 questions of 1 mark each, contributing 16 marks.
- 5 questions of 2 marks each, contributing 10 marks.
- 7 questions of 3 marks each, contributing 21 marks.
- 2 case-based questions of 4 marks each, contributing 8 marks.
- 3 questions of 5 marks each, contributing 15 marks.
The complete exam carried 70 marks, and students were required to attempt all questions within the given three-hour duration.
