The wait for Tesla in India is finally over as the US electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer has arrived here with its largest-selling car, the Model Y. We are sure that loads of Tesla fan boys have been waiting to get their hands on the Model Y. While Tesla has started accepting bookings for the electric car, its India deliveries are slated to commence in Q3 2025.
If you are also looking to book the Tesla Model Y, here is the process that you need to follow.
1. Visit the Tesla website. On the top right corner, there will be an icon for 'region and language'. Click on that icon, and after that select 'India and English' from the 'drop-down'.
2. You will then be guided to the India page of the website. There will be two options -- 'Order Now' and 'Learn More'. It is your choice whether you want to just go to the booking section or get details regarding the features and technical specifications of the Tesla Model Y.
3. In case you select the 'Learn More' option, the page you will be taken to will give complete details about the Model Y, from its exteriors to interiors to new additions and updates. The details will be presented via still images as well as videos.
4. Assuming you already know everything about the Model Y, including its availability in India in rear-wheel-drive (RWD) form only, you can just hit the 'Order Now' option. You will move to a new page, and a message will instantly pop up asking for your registration location. You will have to choose from three options -- Delhi, Gurugram and Mumbai. As of now, registration has been made available only for select regions.
5. Now, you will have to select a variant -- Model Y RWD or Model Y Long Range RWD.
The Model Y RWD has a claimed range of 500 km (WLTP) on a single full charge, while the Model Y Long Range RWD can drive up to 622 km (WLTP) on a single full charge.
The following are the variant-wise Tesla Model Y prices (ex-showroom).
RWD - Rs 59.89 lakh
Long Range RWD - Rs 67.89 lakh
6. After selecting the variant, you will have to select the colour. There are six colour options -- Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Quicksilver and Ultra Red.
However, there is a catch here. Only Stealth Grey is as standard option, as you will not have to pay any extra amount for it. Other paint schemes will have a premium.
Stealth Grey - Rs 0
Pearl White Multi-Coat - Rs 95,000
Diamond Black - Rs 95,000
Glacier Blue - Rs 1.25 lakh
Quicksilver - Rs 1.85 lakh
Ultra Red - Rs 1.85 lakh
7. In the next step, you will have to select the interior theme. While an all-black layout is standard, you will have to shell out an extra Rs 95,000 for the black and white layout.
8. After selecting the variant, exterior paint scheme and interior colour theme, you will have to scroll down to view the final price. Depending on your location, you can get the Tesla Model Y for as low as Rs 61 lakh on the road.
9. The last step will be to pay the booking amount. A payment of Rs 22,220 will have to be made for booking your Tesla Model Y. There will be three payment modes -- card, UPI QR and UPI Collect.
The booking amount will be non-refundable. Also, it will rise to Rs 3 lakh within seven days.
Also, there is one more point to be noted here. If you select Gurugram, the price will be higher due to road tax charges levied on the vehicle. These charges will be nil for Delhi and Mumbai.
