The country's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India, has introduced six airbags as standard in two more cars -- Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV and Maruti Suzuki XL6 MPV.
Both models are sold from the company's Nexa retail channel.
The standardisation of six airbags in the Fronx and the XL6 has resulted in a slight increase in their prices.
While the Fronx has witnessed an average price increase of 0.5%, the XL6's price has gone up by 0.8%. The new prices have become effective now.
The Fronx is priced between Rs 7,54,500 and Rs 13,06,500 (ex-showroom). The XL6 sits in the price bracket of Rs 11,83,500 to Rs 14,99,500 (ex-showroom).
To enhance the safety quotient of its cars, Maruti has been updating its models with six airbags and electronic stability control as standard.
The company recently started offering six airbags right from the entry-level variant of the Baleno hatchback. Last year, it launched the Swift hatchback and the Dzire sedan with six airbags in all their variants.
The Alto K10, which is Maruti's most affordable car in the Indian market, has six airbags in all its variants.
The introduction of more safety features resulted in the Dzire scoring a 5-star safety rating at the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP).
